Construction Equipment Towing Team Recovers Backhoe After Brake Failure
Road Runner’s construction equipment towing team responded to an incident at a construction site in Ashburn, Virginia. A backhoe operator was hard at work doing some excavation work when disaster struck. As he approached the edge of a small ditch, he quickly realized that the backhoe’s brakes had failed. Not being able to stop, the driver had to brace as the heavy machine flipped over onto its side.
The construction company now found itself with a flipped over backhoe and a stalled construction project. To make matters even more complicated, the backhoe landed in an area with no road access. This meant that the towing team would not be able to get as close as they would like to the backhoe during the recovery.
Thankfully, the rotator’s boom was the perfect length to reach the backhoe! Bo, a member of the construction equipment towing team, expertly hooked onto 4 lift points; two in the front of the backhoe, and two in the rear. He then slowly lifted the backhoe into the air, simultaneously uprighting it, before settling it back down on the ground. Not only did Bo manage to upright and get the backhoe on solid ground again, but he managed to do it in under 20 minutes from their arrival! Fantastic work out there!
